    From past Festival participants:
    • Excellent planning on [the] entire festival! Getting musicians from the San Diego Symphony was a really good idea because it provided everyone that chance to see how a professional musician approaches music.
    • Initially [the repertoire] seemed too hard, but that challenge really made us push ourselves to try to be the best we can be.
    • I enjoyed [the festival] so much, the most intense week in my whole life! I learned so much about playing music and being a musician! I want to thank every coach for being so helpful and passionate!

Welcome to the University of San Diego Fourth Annual Summer Chamber Music Festival. Co-sponsored by the USD Music Program and the University of the Third Age, the Festival is a week-long chamber music making and performing experience at the beautiful USD campus in San Diego, California. Each day, the Festival offers coaching sessions, free jamming/sight-reading sessions and time for individual practice. A public performance is given each afternoon, in addition to the opening faculty concert and a final concert at the end of the Festival (see Schedule).

All participants are coached by members of the San Diego Symphony and faculty members of the University of San Diego Music Program (see Coaches). Participants may come for a full day of sessions or in the evening only. Individuals with a pre-formed ensemble may request to play together in some sessions. Festival fees, with special discounts to students, are summarized below.

On-campus housing is available for out-of-town participants. Please inquire at chmus@sandiego.edu.
